Barren trees sway as the wind overtakes
The final rustle of leaves that fall
So slowly to the darkened Earth-
That one is left to question
If nature may pursue a different path
Come spring,
For amongst a dark and despondent decay,
Sit dwellings that protect, or rather hide,
All humanity from a lasting frigidity-
That brings assurance of natural suffering,
For in the depths of winter can one find
A strange decay amongst the dullen landscape
That forces a silent retreat of swaying bodies-
That much like the trees, are forced into a submissive hibernation.
